Air Force Rally Comes Up Short Against Robert Morris

USAF ACADEMY – Air Force came up short of a comeback, falling against Robert Morris, 14-13, Saturday afternoon at Cadet Lacrosse Stadium. The Falcons drop to 1-4 on the season while RMU improves to 3-3.
 
Eight Falcons combined for a season-high 14 goals, led by Quincy Peene, Matthew O’Rourk, Ethan Grandolfo, Aidan Tolen and August Johnson with two goals apiece. Mike Matheson, Tommy Hellman and Chase Douglas notched a goal each. O’Rourk, Grandolfo and Tolen have put up points in every game played this season.
 
Peene had a team-high four points on a pair of assists with two goals; he led the squad with eight shots on the day. Brenden Crouse dished a pair of assists on top of seven shots on the game. Crouse also proved effective at the face-off dot, winning 11-of-17 attempts (.647). Sophomore teammate Brian Michael, who took eight attempts at the center X, won five face-offs.
 
The Falcons out-shot the Colonials 50-35, putting 30 shots on goal. RMU defender Liam Rosenthal made 17 saves on the game.
 
Senior defender Quentin Carlile caused three turnovers while Peene and Sterling Ceshker were good for two apiece.  Senior goalie Braden Host made eight saves in 60 minutes of action.
 
The Colonials were led by Jimmy Perkins’ four goals and two assists. Teammate Ryan Smith registered a hat trick with a pair of assists.
 
Next up, The Falcons travel to Chapel Hill to take on the NCAA’s top team, North Carolina, on Saturday, March 20. Action is slated for noon ET at Dorrance Field.  The Tar Heels are currently undefeated (6-0), knocking off one mutual opponent in Denver (24-13, Feb. 7) and three SOCON opponents in four meetings.
