Girls Academy adds two more member clubs ahead of second season

Two more clubs have been accepted as member of the Girls Academy for the 2021-2022 season.

Virginia club Skyline Elite SC will join the Mid-Atlantic Conference, while Colorado’s Broomfield SC has been added to the Mountain West Conference.

Skyline Elite SC’s origins are based in the former SOCA Elite Travel program (Soccer Organization of the Charlottesville Area). The SOCA brand has been well-known in the region as a highly-competitive force, achieving sustained success in the Club Champions League (CCL) and the Virginia State Cup.

Now competing under the newly-launched Skyline Elite banner, the Charlottesville area club will begin play in the GA this fall.

“Skyline Elite SC is honored to become a member of the Girls Academy League,” stated Jimmy Tharpe, Skyline Elite Director of Coaching. “We are committed to the development of the best female soccer players in the western region of Virginia. The GA stands out as the best national youth soccer platform for females, and we are grateful to be part of a league that will support and empower our players through their journey.”

GA Commissioner Lesle Gallimore lauded the addition of Skyline, stating: “Skyline Elite SC is a club that will have an immediate competitive impact within the Girls Academy and in the Mid-Atlantic Conference. The leadership and processes within their club align with the GA and we look forward to including their commitment to the female player into our platform.”

Based in the north metro Denver area, Broomfield SC is regarded as one of the strongest clubs competing in US Youth Soccer’s Colorado Soccer Association, with a history of success in the State Cup, US Youth Soccer National League and beyond.

“Broomfield Soccer Club is excited and honored for the opportunity to be part of the Girls Academy,” said BSC Director of Coaching David Castro. “Our ‘players first’ philosophy aligns with the GA and will allow us to continue our commitment to developing great players and people.”

Gallimore stated the following on the latest addition to the GA’s new Mountain West Conference: “The Broomfield area, Northwest of Denver, has long deserved the elite player platform the Girls Academy offers. Broomfield Soccer Club is a great addition to the GA and our new Mountain West Conference. It is clubs with leadership like Broomfield that we’re anxious to work with as we continue to build our league for the players.”
