Harpeth qualified for its first ever sectional round matchup in boys soccer in program history with a 3-1 win over East Hickman on Monday night. Harpeth then traveled to Valor for the regional championship but lost 6-1 to Valor on Trevecca’s field. With that loss to Valor, Harpeth then have to travel to Madison Magnet in Jackson, Tennessee for the sectional round, but lost to 3-2.
Against East Hickman, Harpeth gave up an early goal to go down 1-0 but came back just before half with a goal from Zachary Bidini. Freshman Jasper Thorpe assisted him to get the Indians on the board.
The second half belonged to the Indians as senior Andrew Gailey scored the first goal in the latter half and then Kyler Hartley scored the final goal to seal the deal for Harpeth.
With that win against East Hickman, Harpeth then have to travel to Valor Academy. Kyler Hartley scored early in the match to give Harpeth the lead but the Valor offense was too much for the Indians. Valor Academy would go on to score six unanswered goals to take the win.
After losing to Valor Academy, Harpeth then have to travel all the way to Jackson, Tennessee for its sectional matchup. One game against Madison Magnet was in the way of the first ever state championship appearance for Harpeth.
Madison Magnet took a 2-0 lead into half but Harpeth came back strong. The Indians were able to tie the game up with just a few minutes remaining in the second half and even appeared to take a lead late in the second half until a controversial offside penalty took away the go-ahead goal for Harpeth.
With the game tied at 2-2, Madison Magnet found the net late in the second half with very little time remaining to take the 3-2 win.
