The Academy Colts Travel to Whitmore Lake for Track Meet

The Hillsdale Academy girls track team took first place at the Whitmore Lake invitational on Saturday.

    The Academy Colts got the track and field season off to a running start this weekend when they travelled to Whitmore Lake High School to take on a myriad number of schools. It was the first meet the Colts had participated in since their 2019 Spring sports season. The other teams that participated in the invitational include Ann Arbor Greenhills, Charyl Stockwell Academy, Huron Valley Lutheran, Lutheran HS Westland, Marine City Cardinal Mooney, Novi Christian Academy, Plymouth Christian Academy, Southfield Christian, and hosts Whitmore Lake. 

At the end of the meet, it would be the Academy Colts that would come out on top in both the boys and girls team results. They placed first in overall points for both teams on Saturday, scoring a total of 152 points for the boys and 205 for the girls team. The girls team final results included second place Huron Valley Lutheran with 75 points, and third place Lutheran Westland with 64 points. The boys final results include Lutheran Westland in second place with 131 points, and third place Whitmore Lake with 83 points.

The Academy boys team had several athletes place first in several events throughout the meet. Colt Junior Bennett Fast finished with a 2:14.17 time in the 800 meter event; good enough for first place. In the 1600 meter dash, Colt Junior Emil Schlueter took first place with a time of 5:06.33. In the 3200 meter individual, Emil Schlueter and Thomas Holm finished first and second respectively. Colts Junior David Richards placed first in both the 110 meter and 300 meter hurdle events. Colts Seniors Jacob Neukom and Jon Strack took first and second in the shotput event; throwing 35 feet and 34 feet. Jacob Neukom took second place in discus with a 98 foot throw. David Richards took second in the High Jump with a 5’08 jump. Freshman Jay Jenkins finished third in the high jump event.
